Masculinity can be toxic. It's toxic when my anger is converted into violence, or when my lust is amplified and transformed into manipulation.

Thankfully, I am less enticed by these behaviors, but I do find myself tempted to ignore and suppressing my feelings. When I ignore my own emotional state it causes me to easily dismiss the feelings of the people around me too.

I have learned about stoicism. For me to practice stoicism, I have to trade in my sensitivity. If I didn't value my sensitivity I would give it away easily. Unfortunately, being a sensitive man is not something celebrated in my community. A sensitive man is equated to the vulva. This song is about embracing the gentleman, the vulva, and learning how to live with a soft heart.
